The Deighton Cup is Vancouver’s answer to the Kentucky Derby. For the past 10 years, ladies and their gentleman have been glamming it up, sipping fabulous cocktails, and of course, doing a little gambling. It’s arguably Vancouver’s classiest summer event (along with Dinner en Blanc) that everyone looks forward to attending.

Without a doubt, the highlight of the event is the fashion. Since The Deighton Cup’s dress code is “dress to impress” and there’s a style stakes competition, Vancouverites get to really bring their style game––which we love to see since our city is known for being a little overly casual.

Every year a panel of Vancouver’s most stylish ladies and gents keep a watchful eye on the outfits at the cup. This year well-known names like Mary Zilba, Crystal CarsonNisha Khare and Kam Bains will be judging. At the end of the day, a Belle Du Jour and Gallant Sartorialist will receive a prize and be named the most stylish at the event. They’ll also become Deighton Cup style ambassadors at the next year’s cup.

What makes the ambiance of this event so spectacular is the attention to detail cup-goers put into their aesthetic. One of our favourite past looks is Paige Vaughn’scurve-hugging pink vintage dress, pale blue gloves, and stunning fascinator (which for us stole the show).

We love that The Deighton Cup is a throwback to an era where a fascinator or hat was the focal point; breath-taking and exquisite, and certainly just as important as your shoe or handbag.

Events like this year’s royal wedding had us gushing over what we would choose to wear at this year’s cup–there was so much inspiration: Amal’sgolden wide-brimmed hat with veil, Victoria’s blue pillbox fascinator, and Kitty Spencer’semerald green tall fascinator had us swooning.

Intricate hats like that can be hard to find, which is why we’re once again hosting Entitled Fascinators at our shop. Entitled Fascinators use only the highest-quality European materials, and each piece is finished with a variety of materials including; veiling, feathers, Swarovski crystal beads, velvet, ribbon, and other trims.

She’s worked on many Hollywood productions and with English celebrities–– her fascinators are truly exquisite. The fascinators  are each hand made and one of a kind. They range in price from $75 to $375 and are worth every penny. With small to large options, you're bound to find the perfect fascinator to go with your outfit.

And of course, while you’re at Citylux shopping for the right fascinator, you’ll need to find the perfect coordinating outfit. Whether you’re looking for something feminine and floral, sultry and romantic, or classic and chic, we have the best outfits in Vancouver for the cup.

So come down and let our style experts help you pick out your perfect Deighton Cup outfit.
