One of our favorite fashion events, The Deighton Cup is Vancouver’s version of the Kentucky Derby or the Ascot in England. This posh event is a must attend summer party and it’s happening this July 22, 2017 at the Hastings Racetrack.
The Deighton Cup is as much about fashion and style as it is about horse racing. You get to step back into a time where people spent all-day mingling outdoors, taking in a sport, sipping classic cocktails, all while decked out in fabulous fashions.
We love this event because it’s one of the rare times where we get an excuse to dress over the top in Vancouver. Unleash your inner princess as you channel a regale look inspired by iconic Kate Middleton, or take inspiration from sassy socialite sister, Pippa!
No detail is overlooked at this dress to impress event where you’re surrounded by dapper gents and lavishly chic women. But don’t be intimidated. The Deighton Cup ‘look’ is easy and fun to put together.
Here are 5 tips to help you build a look that’s fit for a day at the racetrack:

Stick to a single statement piece. Less is more. Pick one statement piece like an old-timey fascinator, or a pair of long lace gloves to get that royal look. The rest of your outfit will naturally come together.

Be flexible. Be open to different options. Always start with the statement piece first, and build your look around that. It’s easier to find a dress in Vancouver than a hat or fascinator.

You don’t need to shop vintage. You can achieve the vintage look without the vintage smell. Classic looks are common fixture in today’s fashion collections. You can create a timeless look by incorporating peplums, lace, florals, midi-length skirts and dresses or high-waisted skirts & crop top combos.
